Cannes 2025: Did Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Stunning Red Carpet Look Pay Tribute To ‘Operation Sindoor’?
At the 78th Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2025, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reaffirmed her title as the 'Cannes Queen' with a mesmerizing appearance that blended traditional Indian elegance with opulent luxury. She graced the red carpet in an exquisite ivory Banarasi saree, meticulously crafted by designer Manish Malhotra. The saree showcased the intricate Kadwa brocade technique, a hallmark of Varanasi's weaving heritage, featuring motifs woven with real silver (chaandi) zari embroidery. A sheer tissue dupatta, bordered with gold and silver zardozi work, added a regal touch, its dramatic pallu cascading into a sweeping train that captivated onlookers.

However, it was her breathtaking jewellery that truly stole the spotlight. Designed by Manish Malhotra, Aishwarya adorned a magnificent 500-carat necklace composed of Mozambique rubies and uncut diamonds set in 18-carat gold. The elaborate piece featured a ruby choker with a standout diamond pendant, followed by a second diamond necklace, and a third tier of multiple ruby strands flowing like a river of rubies. Complementing the necklace were bold ruby-and-diamond earrings and statement rings adorning both hands. According to Malhotra, the jewellery drew inspiration from heritage craftsmanship, designed to harmonize with the intricacy of Aishwarya's couture saree.
Completing her look, Aishwarya's makeup featured a bold winged liner, radiant blush, and rich red lips, while her hair was styled in a sleek middle part, accentuated with a touch of sindoor, symbolizing her marital status. This ensemble not only highlighted her timeless beauty but also celebrated Indian craftsmanship on an international platform, solidifying her status as a global fashion icon.
